A Note from the Pastor Search Committee

In light of our vote this past Sunday, Bro. Richard Hamlin would like to address the congregation regarding his answer to our call upon him as Senior Pastor. This will take place during evening worship this coming Sunday (March 1st). Also, Bro. Hamlin will bring the sermon that evening. Please be in attendance!

Who Is Bro. Hamlin? (In Case You Missed It)

Brother Richard Hamlin and his wife, Nancy, were married in 1978 and have been blessed with five children: Kristen, Kaci, Kory, Kyle, and Kody. Four of these are now married and have brought four grandchildren into their world with the fifth on the way. His parents are Eugene and the late Ivalene Hamlin of Taylor, AR. Bro. Hamlin was saved at the Landmark MBC, also in Taylor, at the age of 7. He surrendered to preach at Bogg Springs camp at the age of 14. Nancy is the daughter of the late Alva Cloud, Jr. and Martha Cloud. She grew up in Magnolia and was saved at the age of 9 at Calvary MBC. They met at Bogg Springs Camp.

Bro. Hamlin graduated from Taylor High School in 1977 and enrolled in the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock that fall, majoring in Theology. He also took several music classes and was active in the seminary choir. He has received a Bachelor of Theology degree and a Master of Divinity degree from the Central Arkansas Baptist Bible Institute.

Bro. Hamlin accepted the youth minister position at First MBC in Mabelvale, AR in 1978. He served as pastor at Lewisburg MBC in Morrilton, Social Hill MBC in Benton, Calvary Baptist Church in Hazen, and Mt. Zion MBC in Malvern. He also started, led in the organization of, and served as pastor of the Bee Creek Baptist Church in Branson, MO. Since 2003, he has served as pastor of the Sharon MBC in Benton, AR.

Bro. Hamlin describes his calling in life as simply to preach the Word. His pastoral ministry revolves around this passion:

1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

Brother Hamlin is also an outdoorsman who enjoys deer hunting, crappie fishing, and the occasional trip to the gulf for pier and surf fishing. He plays (endures?) golf infrequently, but "only for the fellowship and the exercise it brings in humility."
